Write Now 6 shorts

To launch the Write Now 6 Festival we will be performing seven short plays on May 9th, on the theme Lead Us.  Thought-provoking, heart warming and humourous, these plays are drawn from UK and International submissions.

We are pleased to announce this year’s shorts are:

Footprints by Joe Murphy and Joe Robertson
Four Interrogations by Maximillian Singh Gill
Queens of the Realm by Ian August
Roleplay by Nick Myles
The Catch by Tom Harvey
The Soldier by Chris Paxton
True Grit by Judy Upton

The shorts will be performed on Saturday May 9th at 5pm and 7.30pm. Tickets go on sale next week!

We have now read and reread your submissions and are delighted to announce our short list for Write Now 6:

The final selections will be announced in early March 2015.

One selected play will be given a full production at the Jack Studio Theatre in May 2015. Two further plays will be given a week’s workshop time and three staged readings during the Festival.

2014 at the Jack

We welcome you to our new year productions at the Jack. Our first 2014 brochure is now online, with information about our forthcoming performances.

2013 ended on a high at the Jack, with full houses and eight Off West End nominations for our Autumn Season and our Christmas production, The Mystery of Irma Vep. Thank you to all our audience and sponsors for your support throughout 2013. We hope to see you back at the Jack very soon.

Write Now 5 panel announced

Submissions are open for Write Now 5, our annual new writing Festival for playwrights with a connection to south east London.

The submissions will be read by the in-house team at the Jack, led by Artistic Director Kate Bannister, with the shortlist being discussed by a panel of industry experts. We are pleased to announce that joining us in 2014 will be

Write Now 5

Submissions are open for Write Now 5.

We’re pleased to announce that we are now taking submissions for our annual New Writing Festival. We are looking for new and previously unperformed plays from writers who have a strong connection to south east London. One play will be given a full production, and two further selected plays will have a week’s workshop time and readings during the Festival.

The deadline for submissions is January 27 2014.
