Sky Blue Theatre’s 7th Annual Theatre Challenge
produced by Sky Blue Theatre
Sky Blue Theatre is delighted to bring you five very different plays, wrapped into one entertaining evening. Join their prestigious international new writing event for a night of diverse, exciting and award winning plays from around the world.
This year 274 new short plays were submitted from 16 different countries making this the biggest challenge yet. Sky Blue Theatre has been supporting and producing work by emerging and established writers across the globe since 2012. In the past few years over 35 winning plays have been given offers of publication as a direct result of the challenge.
This year’s winning plays are:
2045 by Scott Lummer: exploring the impact of new technology on humanity as a whole.
Tagged by Jim Moss: an intriguing and disturbing piece delivering a very thought provoking ending.
Teatime by Sheila Cowley: an original play about people under siege making home and family with who and what they have.
Accident of Birth by Trevor Suthers: At his request, a Broadmoor inmate is reluctantly visited by his birth mother who he has never met.
Bunnies and Wolves by Elspeth Tilley: a biting satire on the health service and online marketing ploys.
Through the week audience members will be asked to vote for the play they believe to be the best piece of writing!
