As part of SE Fest 2026, we were delighted to host three workshops run by industry professionals. The workshops covered topics relevant for new and emerging theatre companies and artists.

Producing New Work: From Idea to Opening Night

Ever wondered what a producer actually does?

This practical session takes you behind the scenes of how new theatre gets made. From that first conversation with an artist through to opening night, we’ll look at the role of the producer in developing ideas, building relationships, finding funding, managing budgets and bringing a production to life.

Drawing on her experience as Head of Producing and New Work at Brixton House, Dilek will share real examples from her work producing new writing, festivals and co-productions, along with honest insights into the challenges, opportunities and day-to-day realities of the job.

Approaching and Building Relationships with Fringe Venues
