Monkeys, nationalism, dissonance, and the end of the world.
3am. Central London. The streets are empty.
Simon, a primary school teacher, has handcuffed himself to a tree for a climate protest. Hours have passed. His friends have abandoned him.
Benoit, an oil drilling engineer, roams the streets looking for kicks. Drunk, desperate and totally alone, he has nothing left to lose.
What can ensue but a clash of personality, ideology, and culture?
Prepare for a compulsive, high-octane romp through England, France, dating apps, primate psychology and the end of the world. In one hour, in one night, everything falls apart.
Complicité was written and directed by Finn Lanchester for a rehearsed reading at the Bread and Roses Theatre in April 2026. It is produced by Finn’s production company scorcher as their debut production.
