A Christmas Carol

from the novella by Charles Dickens

produced by The Jack Studio Theatre

‘Bah, Humbug!’

It’s Christmas Eve and Ebenezer Scrooge determines to turn his back on the world, and on Christmas.

But a series of ghostly visitors have other plans in mind, transporting Scrooge on the journey of his lifetime. In the course of one fateful night he must confront his past, his present and the future before time runs out.

Join us at the Jack Studio this Christmas for a festive retelling of Dickens’ classic ghost story, in this enduring and heart-warming tale of redemption and kindness.

A Christmas Carol is performed by Tice Oakfield in this thrilling and highly inventive solo show.  Tice was nominated for two acting awards following his most recent performances at the Jack.

Produced by the award-nominated team behind Kindred Spirits and The Woman Who Amuses Herself.

Press for this production

‘Through a combination of stage magic, video projection and an exceptional display of versatility from actor Tice Oakfield, the story is brought to fully three-dimensional life. Oakfield is exceptional… if you’re looking for a performance that’s intimate, funny, inventive and a little bit different, this year’s festive offering from the Jack surely has to be a tough one to beat.’  Theatre Things

‘Sleight of hand magic tricks are matched by technical wizardry with Chomsoonthorn’s lighting complementing Baker’s video design and Julian Starr’s sound design to create the perfect spooky atmosphere for a ghost story… old school stage magic and Oakfield’s personification of the Ghost of Christmas Present are a welcome addition in this affectionate mashup of theatrical effects – something very special. A barnstorming performance from Tice Oakfield and the magical touch of the Jack Theatre team deliver a heart-warming Christmas treat.’ ★★★★ Fairy Powered Productions

‘A Carol like no other splendidly staged and performed… a brand new way of presenting Dickens’ famous tale in a terrific production directed by Kate Bannister. McGregor and Bannister keep the surprises coming with Oakfield rising to the challenges. Of all the carols on offer this is one of the best.’ ★★★★ ReviewsGate

‘Kate Bannister and Karl Swinyard have had a super year at The Jack Studio… one can’t help but think that another trip to The Jack Studio Theatre has truly blessed us – every one.’ ★★★★ London Pub Theatres

‘a performance of remarkable virtuosity…  75 minutes of non-stop entertainment.’  Spy in the Stalls
