SEVEN and a HALF YEARS

written and performed by Mark Glentworth

produced by MMGMUSIC PRODUCTIONS

Why would a man disappear inside his own home for seven and a half years, just when he has the most to share?

SEVEN and a HALF YEARS is a unique biographical musical about a successful musician and composer who suddenly and rapidly suffers a career-stopping crisis that spirals out of control.

A show of our times, this new musical explores well-being and mental health, grief, love and rebirth. It’s an uplifting story about why and how we overcome the challenges life throws at us.

Following its premiere at the 2021 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, this new version of the show has been developed for its run at the Jack Studio Theatre and will then tour.

this show tells his survivor’s story in an expression of hope… There are several very well-crafted songs in the show: songs not only from the heart but touching the heart of the listeners.

Mark Glentworth.
At the age of 16, Mark was one of the youngest students to study percussion at the Royal Northern College of Music. After graduating he worked in London as a freelance percussionist in all styles of music. His composition work has covered a very wide spectrum of music ranging from commercial songwriting to orchestral composition and opera. Mark has worked with Steven Berkoff, Sir John Gielgud, Sir Peter Maxwell Davis’s Fires Of London, The BBC Symphony Orchestra and The London Sinfonietta.

Reviews for this production

A moving account of recovering from mental illness… Glentworth rises to the challenge of the role magnificently and sings the songs he has composed sometimes to a backing tape, sometimes seated at a keyboard on stage. It must be tricky to do, and he does it remarkably well. Directed by Julia Stubbs the result is a moving piece of theatre.
